A Venice appeals court has upheld the international arbitration award made in connection with the ongoing dispute between Helios Technology and LDK Solar. The Venice court agreed that the "take or pay" clause outlined in the solar wafer supply contract LDK had with Helios was valid and at the terms and conditions specified in the contract. Helios must therefore pay LDK approximately US$31 million plus interest, costs and lawyers fees.

Suntech Power Holdings saw its revenues and shipments increase dramatically during the third quarter, with sales reaching an all-time high. The solar PV company also said it plans to enhance the vertical integration of its production assets by buying 375MW of silicon ingot and wafer-slicing capacity from Glory Silicon for approximately $127 million. The company expects to ship more than 1.5GW of modules during 2010, more than double the amount from the previous year.
